Fortified wine, barrel aged on the upper floors of the cellars. This gives rise to a type of oxidative barrel ageing. Madeira is the only wine that is warmed to reproduce the conditions and effects of the ancient travels to and from the Orient. Madeira is elevated to 17/20% with vinyl alcohol and is stored in vats warmed at 45° for a minimum of three months, resulting in an amber coloured wine with aromas of dried fruit and a medium sweet, generous and complex flavour.
